10 Billion Beats

Carlisle Bergquist from Central Kansas is a creative with extraordinary vision.

He has noticed that whilst drumming is part of many traditions, it does not belong exclusively to any. It is most often our political, religious and philosophical dogmas that separate us.

Thus, in his exciting vision he intends to use the drumming as a way to honour what we have in common rather than focus on what separates us.

‘10 Billion Beats’ is a Global Intention, whether it be peace, love, prayer or healing that will use what we all have in common, the drumming, to send a wave of positive thought around the world. It will start in the central time zone (Kansas), and follow the sun westward through all the time zones at 7pm on Friday 18th September and into Saturday 19th September as it crosses the dateline.

This event is for all faiths, all nations and all creeds. That includes you, and that is always where change begins, as ‘you’ should be the change that you want to see in the world.

Imagine for one moment, just sitting up in the stars and looking down at the Earth. You see a warm glow of harmony going on, and can hear the continual rhythm of beating drums. The vibration makes you feel good.

You also notice that as world keeps on turning, the drums just keep on playing and the positive intention appears like a never ending light that shines back up at you. For 24 hours, as the Earth turns one full cycle, you bask in harmomy, light and seemingly endless drum rhythm. 10 billion beats.

At 7pm your local time on Friday 18th September 2009, wherever you are around the world, we would be honoured if you would join us and beat your drum with positive intention, whether it be peace, love, prayer or healing for one whole hour, in order to pass it along to the next time zone, in the same tradition as you would for an Olympic torch.

There will be no medals, or glory, just 10 billion reasons for the satisfaction of taking part in a world-wide job well done. www.10billionbeats.com

On Saturday  19th September  2009, at ‘The Maritime Equinox Festival’ at the Labyrinth, Carlisle has graciously given us the honour to catch the wave as it comes back around again from its trip around the World, to give thanks, bless it and give it to Mother Earth.
